Dr. M. Chockalingam is an ophthalmology specialist at The Capstone Clinic whose areas of specialization include IOL microsurgery, phacoemulsification, glaucoma, paediatric ophthalmology, medical retina, anterior segment imaging and diagnostics.

Dr M. Chockalingam explores a crucial connection between the retina and diabetes, which becomes an important division of the ophthalmology centre of The Capstone Clinic. Dr. M. Chockalingam is also the Medical Director Vignesh Meenu Eye Clinic, Chennai and Consultant Ophthalmologist at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. He is a specialist in phacoemulsification and glaucoma. He was Senior Consultant in Cataract, Glaucoma and Uvea Department and NABH Coordinator in Uma Eye Clinic, Chennai. He was the Head of the Department of Glaucoma and in charge of School of Optometry in Ahalia Foundation Eye Hospital, Palakkad. He has worked as Associate Consultant in the Department of Glaucoma, Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore and as Consultant in Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai in the past.

A consistent top achiever in school having passing out with “Best All Round Achievement award among students of Standard XII” from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School, Chennai, he did medical schooling in Stanley Medical College, Chennai where he completed his internship. He did his ophthalmology residency (DO and DNB) in Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai where he was awarded the “Dr. S. Ramakrishnan Memorial Cash prize” for the best outgoing post graduate student. He obtained his FRCS in ophthalmology from The Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, Glasgow, UK. He has also done a one year Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Hospital Administration from IGNOU, New Delhi. Dr. M. Chockalingam has done a short term fellowship in glaucoma in National University Hospital, Singapore. His areas of specialization include IOL microsurgery, phacoemulsification, glaucoma, paediatric ophthalmology, medical retina, anterior segment imaging and diagnostics.

He has published numerous articles and papers in reputed national and international journals, presented instruction courses, papers and scientific posters in various national and international conferences. He has been invited to speak in various conferences on glaucoma, cataract and health management. He is one of the contributors for the 2nd South East Asia Glaucoma Guidelines issued by the South East Asia Glaucoma Interest Group (SEAGIG). He is a member of various professional bodies such as All India Ophthalmic Society, Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association, Glaucoma Society of India, Indian Medical Association South East Asia Glaucoma Interest Group and Madras City Ophthalmic Association.
